Poultry Barn Ventilation System The most effective naturally-ventilated building is the open gable or a mono-slope building that provides an exhaust at its peak. The open gable building best lends itself to the "CHIMNEY EFFECT" desired in natural air flow. If the building has a flat ceiling, the only ventilation for the building is cross ventilation.
The Open Gable "CHIMNEY EFFECT" works on the same principle as a wood burning stove. The ridge vent is the damper and the side wall vents are the air intake. With this configuration, there is a natural flow up and out with no reliance on wind to ventilate.
